One of the revolutionary students and Enjolras' brother, he bumps
into Cosette by accident in a poor part of the town. They instantly fall for one
another. Through his friend Eponine, he is able to find her and confess his feelings for
her. Eponine has accidentally led her father, Thenadier, to Cosette's house.
Frightened by their attack, Cosette and her father, prepare to leave France. The
heartbroken Marius decides to follow the revolutionaries to the barricades. He fights
there bravely, thinking that even if he died, it truly wouldn't make any difference since
Cosette would not be with him. When the barricades fall, Marius was rescued by a
mysterious stranger and is reunited with his beloved...
A ghost you say, a ghost, maybe. . .she was just like a
ghost to me. One minute there, and she was gone.
Red, the color of desire, black the color of despair.
Do I follow where she goes? Shall I join my brothers there?
Do I stay and do I dare?
Do I care if I should die? Now she goes across the sea.
There's a grief that can't be spoken, there's a pain goes on
Phantom faces at the window, phantom shadows on the floor,
empty chairs at empty tables where my friends will meet no more!
